Some voters in Bexar County said they ran into registration problems trying to vote early because their status appeared differently in county and state systems.
The voters checked their registration before heading to a polling place and told KSAT their names either did not appear in the county’s voter-registration system or their status showed as inactive.
KSAT emailed Bexar County Elections multiple times this week with questions about the reports, including why a voter may appear in the state system but not in the county system. As of Wednesday afternoon, the county has yet to respond.
Valerie Reiffert, a voter advocate, said she has been hearing similar concerns since early voting began.
Reiffert said some people who registered by the deadline have contacted her after finding they appeared inactive or absent from the county’s voter-registration website.
“It just seems like there is some type of disconnect going on with the Bexar County voter registration, voter rolls,” Reiffert said.

Reiffert said she has also heard from voters who said they remained on a suspense list.
Bexar County Elections previously said it had cleared a backlog involving voter-registration records from the Texas Department of Public Safety. The county did not say it had cleared the suspense list.
It remains unclear whether the reported issues stem from a county system, a state system or another problem.
Reiffert encouraged voters who believe they registered by the deadline to check their status through the Secretary of State’s website and to contact the Bexar County Elections Department.
“Your vote is very important and it needs to be cast,” Reiffert said.
She said a provisional ballot may be an option if the issue cannot be resolved at the polling place.
Early voting in Bexar County continues through Friday and Election Day is Tuesday.
