KOKOMO, Ind. — Nearly $110 million in state matching grants will help 346 Indiana cities, towns and counties improve local roads and bridges.

Gov. Mike Braun announced $109.9 million in Community Crossings Matching Grants Wednesday during the 43rd annual Indiana MPO-IARC Conference in Kokomo.

The grants help local governments pay for infrastructure improvements, with communities contributing matching funds.

“Good roads and bridges are essential to strong communities and a growing economy,” Braun said. “This funding ensures hundreds of Indiana communities have the necessary resources to make improvements that Hoosiers will see and use every day.”

Communities applied for funding in September as part of the fiscal year 2027 grant cycle.

The Indiana Department of Transportation says more than $2 billion in Community Crossings matching grants have been that help provide safe, efficient transportation infrastructure for our cities, towns and counties,” INDOT Commissioner Lyndsay Quist said.

The program’s annual matching grant cap is $100 million, with a limit of $1 million per local government per state fiscal year. INDOT has exceeded the annual cap during the past two fiscal years because of cost savings, according to the state.

A full list of communities receiving funding is available through the Indiana Community Crossings program.awarded since 2016.

“Community Crossings is a testament to the strong partnerships between INDOT and local communities that help provide safe, efficient transportation infrastructure for our cities, towns and counties,” said INDOT Commissioner Lyndsay Quist.
